There will always be something painful at the back of the mind of every smoker. They realize how risky it is to smoke. And nobody’s fooling anyone when they keep telling each other that they like the smell and taste of smokes. Of course, the habit has made smokers ignore the odor and taste which helps enslave them to the addiction. Some think that they could simply start a quit smoking plan if they wanted to and though they have that knowledge, they never do anything about it but ignore it. Nevertheless, Everyone knows that sooner or later, they have to kick out the habit.
Here is one thing you can do. Try to start a quit smoking plan right now. After some time, you will feel the desire finding you . Gauge yourself on how many cravings you can get past with without rushing to the nearest pack and lighting a smoke. Consider it a challenge . There will be competitors, people also wanting to quit, and you have to best them. Consider it as a work out session for your will. Regard it as your opportunity to finally beat down a lifelong archrival.
A good way to carry yourself from the creeping addiction is to come up of a creative way like the nicotine giving you a decision on the matter. Act as if it is giving you the chance to say either ‘Yes, I would like to have a smoke right now’, or No, not right now.’ Yes will mostly be your answer at the start. But pretty soon, as you regularly exercise your willpower and get stronger mentally (just like a normal workout session!), you will have the power to pick No and not suffer for it. Then continue on choosing that option as much as you can.
Some lapses may occur at times, but it is to be expected. The main part is that you have made an attempt. It will take time, and there will be days that you wish you would just get a smoke but you are making an effort to exercise your willpower, and you know what occurs to something when you continuously work on it. It becomes stronger until it almost becomes a wall. There will come a time when an important choice will pop up, perhaps after only a few weeks, depending on the effort you put into it – ‘No, never ask anymore.’
Never let a few terrible episodes of withdrawal symptoms, especially iof this is your initial attempt, to discourage you. You will be smoking again a few times, but failure is a good occasion to learn and perfect your attempt eventually. Having a good willpower will also be very helpful after you quit to other bad aspects of your lifestyle that you would want fixed.
